We’re Helen & Juan, the husband-and-wife duo behind Licandro Weddings, luxury wedding planners in Tenerife. Living on this incredible island surrounded by natural beauty, stunning venues, and amazing suppliers, we wanted to show couples just how magical the Canary Islands can be for a destination wedding.
Helen: Wedding & Event Planner and Stylist
I’m a born-and-bred Londoner. I’ll always love the buzz of a big city — but I’m much better suited to island living, which is exactly why Tenerife became my adopted home.
Before weddings took over my world, I began my career as a professional dancer, travelling internationally and working in a high-adrenaline industry that demanded discipline, adaptability and resilience. Performing across the world taught me how to think on my feet, stay calm under pressure and deliver
That career naturally led me to launch my own entertainment company in London. I went on to supply performers for brands such as Peugeot, Canon, MAC, Alton Towers, Selfridges and Levi’s, as well as prestigious events including the Cannes Film Festival. Alongside large-scale corporate clients, I also worked across luxury events, private celebrations and weddings. Over time, entertainment evolved into full-scale event planning — from venue sourcing and creative direction to seamless on-the-day management — and I haven’t looked back since.
As for what I bring to your wedding? - Warm, straight-talking, highly organised and fiercely protective of my couples. I can talk for Tenerife , in both languages (expect legendary voice notes when needed). I’m unapologetically honest — because that’s exactly what you want in a wedding planner.
I can run on very little sleep and have almost ridiculous reserves of energy. And most importantly, I am the calm in the storm. If something is happening behind the scenes on your wedding day, you’ll likely never even know about it — because I’ll already have it handled.
Juan: Wedding & Event Photographer & Planner
Originally from Uruguay (yes — the country no one can pronounce in that episode of The Simpsons), Tenerife has been home to me since the early 2000s.
Photography became my career when I moved to London and immersed myself in the fashion industry, shooting for international modelling agencies including BAME, PRM and BMA. But in my downtime, I began photographing couples — and that’s when everything shifted.
I realised my true passion wasn’t just creating beautiful images. It was capturing connection. The emotion that can’t be directed or staged. Whether between a couple, parents and their children, or lifelong friends, I found myself drawn to the moments that feel real.
When we decided to settle permanently in Tenerife, I joined forces with my wife and Licandro Weddings was born. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of documenting the incredible celebrations she creates — capturing each one with honesty, warmth and authenticity.
So, why me as your photographer? I’m relaxed. I’ll have a laugh with you on the day (don’t worry — I’ll still follow the schedule… my wife makes sure of that).
I believe in raw, natural emotion — nothing forced, nothing unatural, nothing that makes you feel awkward. I love the genuine moments. The big ones. The quiet ones. The slightly chaotic ones. I’ll happily join you for a celebratory whisky, take photos with your aunties, and blend seamlessly among your guests so that what I capture feels effortless — never staged.

We’re based on this incredible island, surrounded by dramatic landscapes, panoramic sea views, and some of the most unique venues in Europe. From the very beginning, our vision was simple: to show couples just how magical, stylish, and unique a Canary Islands destination wedding can truly be.

We created Licandro Weddings for couples looking for something different.

With backgrounds in event planning and professional photography, we saw a gap in the market for design-led weddings that feel high-end while still feeling like you. Our combined skill sets mean we approach every celebration with both creative vision and logistical precision — ensuring your day looks incredible and runs flawlessly.
Being a husband-and-wife team is our secret weapon. We’ve planned our own weddings (yes, twice — London in 2016 and Tenerife in 2017), so we understand first-hand the emotions, expectations, and pressures that come with organising the biggest party of your lives. We know when to guide, when to reassure, and when to step in and take the weight off your shoulders.
Our love story actually began in Tenerife — in a nightclub (not quite the romantic sunset setting we now specialise in). We welcomed our son in 2021, who is a wonderfully wild combination of us both.
We are bilingual, and at home we speak “Spanglish” — whoever starts the conversation chooses the language.
Licandro is our surname — and for those unfamiliar with Spanish customs, it’s not traditional here to change your name after marriage… which has led to us being asked more than once if we’re siblings!
