How to create a fun festival themed Tenerife wedding with a Mexican party vibe!

Updated: Nov 27, 2020

Read on to see how we created an explosion of colours for this festival themed day.

Have you decided on having your wedding day in beautiful Tenerife and found your perfect Tenerife wedding venue? If so congratulations, Tenerife is the perfect place to hold your dream day.

One of the next decisions to make is how you want your Tenerife wedding day to look.

Weddings are so personal and whether your preferred style is bohemian, rustic, romantic, pretty, stylish or modern, all weddings themes are fabulous.

Maybe you already have a definite idea or colour scheme in mind, or maybe you are open to some suggestions from us?

At Licandro Weddings we have experience in creating original and personalised styling for events and weddings and are here to listen to your ideas and work with you to help make them come to life.

We created this festival themed day with a Mexican twist in a pretty finca wedding venue in the north of Tenerife. Fincas are Canarian farm houses that are full of charm, original rustic features and lots of greenery. Fincas are becoming some of our most popular Tenerife wedding venues due to the freedom you have to really personalise the space and put your individual stamp on it!

This theme was bold! A Mexican fiesta with an explosion of colours that looked incredible against the lush green backdrop of the venue.

An incredible lace wedding gown kick started the Mexican theme. This bridal gown was something special, a close fitting fishtail dress with a dramatic open back with pretty button up detail.

Our professional makeup artist created a stand out bridal look with a statement lip and as this gorgeous lady has the most incredible hair, our florist created a dramatic fresh flower slide to complement the look and once the huge bridal bouquet bursting with colour was added the overall look was stunning.

A dark royal blue three piece suit from a local wedding dress & suit store here in the north of Tenerife, really stood out against the greenery and rustic details. Completed with a tie, cufflinks and pocketchief ,the overall look in our opinion made for a super cool groom.

The ceremony area was set amongst the trees with the focal point for the ceremony space being a large triangle shaped wedding arch.

We have a huge array of different shaped wedding arches all of which can be personalised to suit your day. This particular arch was decorated with an array of dried florals, that our florist had individually hand painted in a variety of loud vibrant colours to give it that real Mexican feel.

We completed the area with tan crossback chairs and array of rugs and gorgeous burnt orange sofa and of course no Mexican theme would be complete without a few cacti!

The array of bright colours and textures wasn't spared in the banquete area either. Beautiful tasseled place settings were contrasted against touches of pink with coloured glassware and serviettes and heavy gold, embossed utensils. The settings were finished with pretty personalised menus and were nestled amongst a centerpiece of bright coloured florals including the protea flower local to the Canary Islands and of course more cacti!

No banquete is complete without a sweet treat and your wedding cake is the perfect opportunity to really show off your wedding theme. Our baker created a show stopping cake of five layers which included a Mexican tile pattern made from edible paper, all finished with the same flowers that the florist had incorporated into the bridal bouquet.

No Mexican themed day would be complete without the fiesta!! To create a festival vibe we knew we had to use lights and bright colours. Our decoration team created an amazing structure above the banquet table and this was used to create a overhead display of ribbons in every colour imaginable and fairy lights, so as soon as the sun went down the table was illuminated in a colourful glow!

One item we are often asked for, for a Tenerife wedding day is a neon sign. They make an awesome focal point and a great photo call area for your guests to take those selfies.

Here we re-used the ceremony area and wedding arch to create a photo call and as our decoration team can create any wording you wish, we went with Queen Beyonce herself and "Crazy In Love"

No festival party would be complete without dancing around with a beer in your hand, so a bathtub full of Coronas created a super cool corner to the party area.

Whilst we are on the Corona subject..... festivals and dancing until you need to take your shoes off are currently prohibited in Spain and we cannot wait until the party can safely return again!

When the wedding party can once again include a heaving dancefloor would you consider a cool festival vibe for your day? Is a colourful Mexican theme one you would consider or do you have a very different theme in mind?

Whatever your ideas for your day may be, do not hesitate to get in contact with us so we can help you create the perfect look for your dream wedding here in Tenerife.
